POPCAKES: SO GOOD TO LOOK AT AND FUN TO EAT

Yummy little cakes on a lollipop!

The first time I saw it, I couldn’t believe it’s really edible. Yes, that’s how cute POPCAKES are. You’d even think twice about eating them because you’d want to preserve its looks. Imagine your child’s favorite characters come to life in little lollipops—and they aren’t just lollipops, they are cupcakes as well! POPCAKES come in colorful shapes, images and different sizes. What’s nice about them are the fact that they’re all made with love—they are individually hand painted with bright real chocolates to make sure that they are of high quality.
Your favorite characters in edible lollipop!

Say hello Spongebob Squarepants, Dora The Explorer, Disney Princesses Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Mickey Mouse, Handy Mandy, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Bert and Ernie—name it, they seem to have it all! In fact, it’s sooo good to look at that sometimes you have to remind yourself that they are indeed edible. And it doesn’t only look good, but it tastes yummy as well. Moist chocolate cakes on the inside or red velvet (depending on the base cupcake), creamy and buttery milk chocolates on the outside. It is a sure treat for those with sweet tooth and chocoholics! Kids and those kids-at-heart will truly enjoy their POPCAKES!

Dare to be extra sweet? Surprise her with her own favorite cartoon character mini cake.

POPCAKES are available at their Kiosk located at the 2nd level of SM The Block, SM North EDSA, Quezon City.

CHARLIE’S GRIND & GRILL: FROM HANDCRAFTED BURGERS TO COMFORT FOODS YOU’LL SURELY LOVE!

Honest-to-goodness wagyu burger and fries.

Who isn’t fond of burgers? I do. I like burgers a lot; I spent half of my life eating burgers from burger slides to hefty burgers with aioli dressings or blue cheese. Although most nutritionists may consider eating hamburgers as a big no-no because it is regarded as “junk food”, who can resist such charred hot-off-the-grill juicy beef burger patty on a bed of lettuce and tomato on a huge bun of bread? Moderation is the key to eating burgers my friends. But there’s actually a better way to enjoy eating honest-to-goodness burgers than your ordinary fast food joint.
Buffalo wings that'll send you to heaven!

You wouldn’t think much of it at first, given the fact that Charlie’s Grind and Grill’s seclusion from the nearest malls. But believe me, it’s worth the entire trip in that other end of Greenhills (Does Ronac Art Center rings a bell?) Imagine handcrafted burgers of your own choice: wagyu, black pepper, cheeseburger, etc…plus fries as an additional side order (just add 45) and you’re ready to munch on one of the yummiest burger snacks on this side of town. If burgers aren’t your thing, there’s a whole lot of choices: from pulled pork sandwich, delectable cakes, sinfully delicious old-style chocolate shake or fruity smoothies, to the spiciest and tangy buffalo wings that’s sure to set your tongues on fire!

True, you may spend a higher price at this resto than your ordinary fast food, but I am telling you, the taste is just heavenly. With 100 % beef without any extender and I can guarantee you satisfaction in terms of taste and size. No virtual distortion here, mind you. It’s all what it’s supposed to be: yummy burgers grilled and made upon order.
The ambiance? Sporty yet laid back. When my family and I went there they even had an LCD TV where guests can watch sports events live such as the volleyball match between La Salle and Ateneo. Eating your fave burgers at an ambiance such as Charlie’s Grind and Grill had never been this fun!
Charlie’s Grind and Grill is located at the Ground Floor of Ronac Art Center, Ortigas, Greenhills, San Juan.

MY SINGAPORE STREETFOOD: DISCOVERING FOOD AND CULTURE

Located at the 2nd level of SM Megamall bridgeway, My Singapore Street Food welcomes its guests.

With the cornucopia of Singaporean food culture, business entrepreneur Jean Henri Lhuillier and Asian TV personality/celebrity chef Vivien Tan recently opened My Singapore Food Street at the 2nd level, Bridgeway of SM Megamall. One could relish Singapore and discover its culture without having to leave the country.  Be prepared to delight in gastronomical experience with an array of signature meals like the Hainanese Chicken and Laksa, appetizers such as Five Spiced Tofu, rice meals like Black Pepper Rice, Nasi Goreng, stir fry dishes like Char Kway Teow and Singaporean favorite Kaya Toast—everything prepared the Singaporean way.

Diners enjoying good food + nice ambiance.

“I shuttle back and forth between Manila and Singapore, two cities I’d like to call home—I figured that the next best thing to do is to open our own restaurant that sells Singaporean fare, with such, there’s no need for me to miss Singaporean dishes anymore,” says Vivien Tan, part owner of My Singaporean Street Food, fashion model, TV host and restaurateur.

Reminiscent of the popular Singapore’s hawker center, My Singapore Street food distinguishes itself from the regular Asian food kiosks that seem to be sprouting like mushrooms in the Metro nowadays. My Singapore Street food comes with a fresh and sleek setting.  I loved their interactive service where instead of just a menu board; friendly staff clad in colorful Asian-inspired prints eagerly explains the dishes. Plus, one can even take a look at how the dishes are being made and prepared with the restaurant’s transparent glass kitchen.

Glass kitchen makes dining even more exciting!

I am a big fan of Asian food, I love the heat and spices and I could happily eat Laksa noodles or anything with sambal sauce every single day and not getting tired eating them. And although I also welcome fusion-inspired dishes, there’s nothing like eating authentic Asian fare at very reasonable prices.

Char Kway Teow

As I browsed over their menu, I’ve noticed the restaurant indeed has a variety of Asian dishes: from Char Kway Teow (Stir fried flat yellow mee noodles, beans sprouts (togue), garlic, red onions, egg, Chinese sausage, fish cake, shrimp and dark soy sauce with Thai fish sauce.) at P195, HokkienMee (Stir fried yellow mee “luglug” noodles, garlic, carrots, red onions, egg, shrimp, squid, fish cake, white pepper and Thai fish sauce.), Spicy MeeGoreng (noodles, garlic, onions, egg, shrimp, tomato sauce, sambal chili and dark soy sauce), NasiGoreng (Sticky rice with egg and sambal chili sauce), Pork and Chicken satay, Black Pepper Beef and Chicken, Lemon Fish and Chicken, all the way down to appetizers: vegetable samosa, croquettes, shanghai roll, spring roll, prata, phpla and kaya toast (toasted sliced white bread with butter coconut jam, best with coffee or milk tea).

But don’t forget to try My Singapore Street Food’s signature meals are the Roast Style Chicken and Hainanese Chicken (Fresh chicken steamed in garlic, ginger, salt and spices) served with Hainanese rice, ginger sauce, sambal chili sauce, dark soy sauce and chicken soup.

Operations Manager Ramon Ferrer and chef demonstrates Kopi Tarik.

During the grand launch and blessing, I also had the chance to witness the art of tea and kopi tarik (yes, they could do it in front of you upon order) demonstration.  And best of all, I’ve tasted their Milo Dinosaur drink, a great way to cap your meal as it satisfies your sweet tooth.

With a wide array of sumptuous Asian food, a fusion of cultures and a cozy ambiance—no doubt, My Singapore Food Street offers the perfect place for families, friends and colleagues to come and enjoy casual dining at its best!
